DVDRemaster 4.4

DVDRemaster 4.4 - DVD Backup or Personal Copy for Mac OS X

DVDRemaster is a full featured application for Mac OS X which recompresses large DVDs so that they fit on standard DVD5 or video players. DVDRemaster accomodates both novices and experts with its simple yet powerful interface.

Recompressing a DVD

DVDRemaster can work in two modes. It can either preserve all tracks (including menus, multiangle, commentaries, other languages, etc.) or work in Movie Only mode where everything but the main feature is discarded, thus leaving more space for the main feature and a better quality of image. Advanced users will appreciate that the Pro version, lets them choose exactly which video and audio tracks to keep or to discard.

Converting to video players

DVDRemaster can also convert a DVD to video compatible with your video iPod, AppleTV, 3GP, etc. No need to worry about cumbersome settings, we have it all summarized for you in simple presets. For the iPod format, you can select from those presets:

* Fast Encoding: at half the original frame rate and a width of 320 pixels, this mode prefers speed of encoding over quality and size. For when you are on the go and need the movie on your iPod as quickly as possible.
* Normal Encoding: at full frame rate, this is a high quality setting and has a width of 480 pixels and should satisfy most people. Movies are quite watchable when displayed on a television.
* Better/Best: at full frame rate, these are high quality settings have a width of 640 pixels and should satisfy the most demanding. Emphasis is put on quality over size.

What more? You can choose the audio track from the DVD, listen to it in the preview and choose to include subtitles.

Extracting streams

DVDRemaster also allows you to extract raw data streams from your DVD. You can reuse those streams in another application. Streams are extracted in parallel for each program.

Developers

The two modules distributed with DVDRemaster were developped and are being released under GNU General Public License. This means that their source code is available. We welcome comments, suggestions and fixes...
